In Malaysia, private agencies must be licensed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kementerian Dalam Negeri, KDN) under the Private Agencies Act 1971. A licensed agency is accountable for how it works — and so are its investigators.

A quick KDN licence check: ask the agency for its licence number and the company's SSM number, then confirm the company exists on SSM e-Search with the same name and address. If an agency refuses, or the details do not match, do not hire it.
